David O'Hare has a BMW X5 3.0d, but is disappointed that he's only getting around 30mpg. He saw my recent ITV programme Fuel's Gold, and is following the advice about driving gently and regular servicing. David does around 20,000 miles a year, so economy is very important to him. Is there anything else he can do to get better mpg?
Quentin Says: There's an easy-to-fit piece of kit that can boost your mpg by up to 16 per cent. A DPT Tuning Box Module will cost around £300 for your X5, but as you do lots of miles, it'll pay for itself quite quickly and improve performance. The module is a specially-programmed plug-in device that takes about 20 minutes to fit, and you can do it yourself. I'm so impressed that I'm going to try it out on my diesel Jag and Range Rover.
